... i don't agree that the movies don't have it wrong... i think they have it right. i think what they are (visually) showing us is the outcauses of mistrust / distrust... and reduction of trust. they are "post apoc" of course... and the apoc is not a good thing (unless it's christ's 2nd coming, ofc... lol.).
i think it's overly-simplistic to say that everything has lost trust in aggregate. rather, i think we're just putting it in different places. it's not necessarily zero-sum but it's a useful heuristic... as we trust our governments less... we move that trust into other systems and sources that warrant that time and attention. we just move trust, like we move energy... into bitcoin and stuffs.
