Unfortunate with Trace. This doesn't detract from his ideas for BTC, ie: "7 network effects" and the Mayer Multiple. Perhaps we can give Trace a chance to air his side of the story and come back to the fold.
Trace publicly stated that he did not receive the air drop. (obviously we don't know if that's the truth) But if you listen to Trace, he says that MWC open for trading with a market cap of $1-2 million and he saw that low market cap as an acquisition opportunity. Trace thinks that bitcoin might have some frangibility and privacy problems in the future and wants to investigate technologies that could be used to support bitcoin.
It seems very unlikely that Trace Mayer would risk ruining his reputation over a financial gain that for him is relatively small. As a person becomes wealthier, additional money means less and one's reputation is valued more.
MimbleWimble tech solves issues that BTC currently has, why could the two not co-exist, or MWC be seen as a testing ground for the tech that may one day be rolled into BTC? Calling out anything that isn't BTC as a scam is pretty narrow minded. Herd mentality isn't healthy for BTC.
Has Andreas Antonopoulos gone the same route as Trace Mayer? I heard Andreas talking about the need for bigger blocks and proof of stake for Bitcoin on his latest podcast "Speaking of Bitcoin #479"
Never thought Trace would go to the dark side. He was tempted and greed took over. Bitcoin twitter is a harsh place, he'll never be let back in and has destroyed his reputation forever.
Trace in interviews as far back aa 2014 is promoting KYC. His arrogance was nauseating and he was rude and used to belittle people. Good fucken riddance you arsehole

Is Trace conning us? Or is he just informing us of problems we'd rather not hear? I think everyone is shooting the messenger.
